Speaking to reporters from the Parliament premises, Yadav said his party was closely monitoring the functioning of both the Uttar Pradesh government and the central government.
"We are from Uttar Pradesh. We are watching the UP government function, and we can also see the Indian government. Whose accountability is it? The government had accountability. It seems their ability is limited to filling the accounts and we are observing this very closely in Uttar Pradesh. What is accountability? Their ability to fill the accounts seems to be their accountability," Yadav said.
Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement regarding the establishment of fast-track courts for cases related to paper leaks, Samajwadi Party MP Pushpendra Saroj said the government should focus on policy-level reforms to prevent such incidents and ensure examinations are conducted on time.
Saroj questioned the effectiveness of fast-track courts and said that the government should explain the changes it plans to introduce in policies related to the National Testing Agency and examination procedures.
"The importance of the youth's future to the Prime Minister is evident from the way tear gas is being used against them, and lathi charges are being carried out. As for the fast-track court, it is a matter of action after the response. The fast-track court will not work. What do they want to discuss with the NTA and policy changes? What changes do they want to bring about so that the paper is not leaked, the examination can be conducted on time, and the lives of students are not ruined? What response do you want to give to that, Prime Minister? The Prime Minister should speak about the changes that he will be making at the policy level," Saroj said.
Meanwhile, a direct confrontation took place between NDA and INDIA bloc MPs inside the Parliament premises on Thursday as both groups held simultaneous demonstrations over separate issues at Makar Dwar.
Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and other INDIA bloc leaders participated in the protest at Makar Dwar. NDA MPs also staged a counter-protest in front of the INDIA alliance leaders.
Congress MP Rajeev Shukla, responding to Prime Minister Modi's post on establishing fast-track courts for strict punishment in paper leak cases, said that such courts alone would not resolve the issue.
"A fast-track court will not achieve anything. First, deliver punishment to the higher-ups responsible as demanded. That will be a secondary process, as they will have bail," Shukla said.
Amid growing protests against the Centre over the NEET paper leak issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted the importance of protecting the future of young students and announced that fast-track courts would be established to ensure swift and strict punishment for those involved in paper leaks.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi stated that those responsible for compromising the future of the youth "will not be spared" and added that concerned authorities had been instructed to take all necessary measures.
The escalating political confrontation over the NEET paper leak issue has placed the government's examination system, accountability mechanisms, and response to student concerns at the centre of public debate, with opposition parties demanding structural reforms while the government emphasises strict action against those involved.
